When is hake in season?

Hake is available all year round, but it is recommended to avoid buying it in February and March, when it is peak spawning season.

Why we love hake

Hake makes a great alternative to cod or haddock and is easy to cook and prepare if you are trying to get more fish into your weekly meal rotation. It can be quickly pan-fried or roasted for a crisp outside, and has a mild flavour that holds up well to pairing with strong ingredients such as chorizo, paprika or chilli.

Health benefits of hake

Like other types of fish, halibut is a good source of lean protein, and could be a good addition to your diet if you're looking to up your intake. It is high in magnesium and selenium too.
